Song in the Spot: Dashboard Confessional - Belle of the Boulevard

Today's artist of the song in the spot is Dashboard Confessional!
They are probably more well-known for their Spiderman movie hit, Vindicated, but I doubt most people have gone on to listen to their other songs, which are quite mediocre anyways.

However, their latest single from their latest album Alter the Ending, has completely changed opinions about them. I came to know about the lead single, Belle of the Boulevard, through Tap Tap Revenge 2 as it was a downloadable track. Since then, I've grown to love this song, mostly due to the lyrics, but the acoustic version of the song is a knockout as well.

Song in the Spot: John Mayer - Heartbreak Warfare

I'm sure almost everyone would have heard of John Mayer, be it for his collaboration with Fall Out Boy on their cover of the late Michael Jackson's Beat It, or for his very own hits.

His most recent album, Battle Studies, contains some of his most experimentative tracks, and one track that really caught my ear is his upcoming 2nd single from the album, Heartbreak Warfare. The upbeat pace of the song really keeps you in the move and his voice is just absolutely amazing. As the opening track to this self-claimed "Heartbreak Handbook", it is truly fitting indeed.

What I'm currently spamming: Kutless - What Faith Can Do

Kutless are a Christian band formed in the Year 2000, and I'm surprised I haven't really heard of them till now.

Their newest worship album is titled It Is Well, and the first single off the album, What Faith Can Do, has hit 3rd on the Billboard Christian Songs Chart. It is definitely not only the sound of the song that makes it so good, its lyrics are just so brilliant and amazing. Even though the song is 3 minutes and 54 seconds long, the messages that it carries could probably last a lifetime.

Song in the Spot: Hollywood Undead - Undead

Hollywood Undead are an interesting band based in Los Angeles, United States.
First of all, they wear masks, very much like Slipknot.
Secondly, their music is of a very mystique genre. Rap-Rock.
Wondering how it sounds like?

Well, you can easily find the video of their lead single, Undead, on YouTube.
And it is absolutely amazing. The blending of rap and rock seems almost seamless as you try to bounce along with the song.
Though there are rather heavy vulgarities in the song, you can't expect anything less from them can you?
A band that switched labels just to have their songs not edited and censored, well they have my full respect.

Song in the Spot: Forever the Sickest Kids feat. Selena Gomez - Whoa Oh!

Forever the Sickest Kids are actually a band I've been watching since finding their page on Purevolume about 3 years ago.
I must say, I was impressed by their first demo of "Hey Brittany", which was rather catchy and went beyond the conventional punk rock.

However, their single Whoa Oh! (Me vs. Everyone) was rather disappointing, and I seriously don't know how it found its way to the top of the 987 Top 20, because it just sounded like any other conventional punk rock song out there.
There wasn't that extra element to make the song stand out from the rest.

But I guess the new single Whoa Oh! found the answer.
Yes, they lacked a female voice.
Selena Gomez totally raises the level of this song, making it more, well, diversified.
Overall, this song is definitely very much worth a listen, especially if you're totally sick of the original FTSK-only version.

Song in the Spot: The Arka Teks - Under The City Lights

Who are The Arka Teks?
They are currently an unsigned artist based in Canada, and their genre is electronic.
I got to know them through the numerous Peter Chao videos on YouTube, and they are currently on MySpace.

The electronic song Under The City Lights really caught my ear with a rather catchy chorus, but the rest of the song doesn't really stick much in my brain.
Also, too much of listening to auto-tune really isn't that good either.
Perhaps they might give Owl City a run for his money in the future, but certainly not now.

What I'm currently spamming: Glee Cast - Defying Gravity

This is definitely one brilliant song from Glee.
It is amazing how Defying Gravity, with the Glee version being only about 2 and a half minutes, is so captivating.
It simply just makes you want to sing along, but you can just barely lip synch it though, unless well, you can hit a High F.
Overall, this is a song that you should not miss, especially if you are a fan of pure vocal.
